New me!
Sorry.
As much as I think the "New year, new me" thing is funny, I'm not exactly anti-resolution. I like a good New Year's resolution. The beginning of the year is a great marker to start/re-start something. A fresh calendar with fresh goals.
Personally, I'm always making goals, lists, and plans and I don't feel the need to wait until January 1 to get them started. However, this year, I'm revisiting a resolution I tried a couple of years ago: one drawing-a-day. As an art teacher, I lose sight of my personal work very easily; helping my students to grow as artists but failing to attend to my own artistic growth.
This resolution is a good way to reset. So I'm starting 2015 with a proper (under-construction) website and a deeper focus with my approach to this daily re-commitment to my work.
My last go at this was a valiant effort. I didn't get 365 works of art done but I did do quite a lot. There were too many times where I really had no idea what to make. I ended up with junk scribbles or nothing at all. This year, I will simply fill in those days with a good, old-fashioned self-portrait. I always teach my kids that artists have so many self-portraits because "you've always got yourself around". I'm going to practice what I preach.
I've already made my drawing for the day, but I've also only just got this website going. I feel like need to get a few more kinks sorted out before I move on to posting an image.
